Sevenoaks Bat & Ball

A view towards Otford reveals both footbridge and waiting shelter still intact, although the latter is missing short sections of valance. The shelter used to have two windows on either side, but these have since been in-filled or, possibly, the whole side sections have been replaced. The station is located on what has become the entry road to an industrial estate - this itself is built on what used to be the goods yard. © David Glasspool

On the left, sandwiched between the end of the platform and the road bridge, is the site of the former locomotive turntable. Early electrification of Southern Railway suburban lines saw this and the engine shed go out of use in 1935. © David Glasspool

The original buildings of this former terminus station of 1862 are still standing in good condition today and remain in railway use. The main building became a template for those stations east of Maidstone and indeed, Penge (East) acquired a mirror image of Bat & Ball's building in 1863. © David Glasspool
